About Greater Enrichment Program
Greater Enrichment Program (GEP) has dedicated 42 years to improving the lives of Charlotte’s most at- risk children. Founded in 1975 by local humanitarian Bishop George E. Battle Jr., GEP has developed a program model that has a proven track record of student achievement, parent engagement and successful community collaborations. GEP contributes to a range of positive outcomes for students including academics, good social and emotional development, safety and community engagement. GEP’s top priorities are to: • Improve the academic success of all students. • Build positive self-esteem and character. • Encourage students to give back to their community • Expose students to a variety of cultural experiences. • Build family relationships. GEP exemplifies quality standards of service and best practices with the needs of the child being primary. GEP collaborates with Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools (CMS), community groups, cultural arts organizations and other youth development programs to provide the stimulus needed to enhance the individual growth of each student enrolled.
